Higher and Higher: Understanding your Higher Self

Greetings Hubbers! It's hub time again! I do hope all is well with all my fellow hubbers and readers. Today we're going to touch on the subject of the "Higher Self" or "Soul Essence".

I guess the obvious first question would be, what is the higher self? Well, the definition varies from one book to another as with from one author to another. I won't spend time trying to explain from another writer's point of view, but from my own understanding of the matter. I will say that as you continue to progress on your Spiritual journey, please take time out to read varying opinions and writings to develop your own opinions and thoughts about the subjects you're studying. If there's one thing that I have learned it is that we can all learn different things from different sources and apply what we feel is important to our lives.

With that said, let's move on. Your Higher Self is your Soul Essence. It's the true you. Some refer to the Higher Self as their conscious. In actuality it is your subconscious that houses your Higher Self.

When I say that your Higher Self is the true you, I mean exactly that. Travel with me for a moment down the road of explanation.....Your physical body is not real. Time is an illusion. (I will explain this in more depth in another Hub.) Our physical bodies are the manifestation of the Mind. (Not our brains. The actual Mind). We are all energy. Energy does not die, it simply changes form. Therefore, with that being the case, knowing that at some point throughout our journey down the road called life we will die, the physical body is not real. Our soul essence continues on long after we've departed the physical plane. This is our Higher Self. It is through our Higher Self that the decision to incarnate into the physical body is made. It is through our Higher Self that the lessons to be learned in life are determined. And in order to return back to the Source (God, The Most High, The One), we must go through our Higher Self.

Now, you will probably read various writings that tell you how to connect with your Higher Self through techniques ranging from simple to extremely complex. Because the Human mind feels that for something to work it has to be complex or performed in steps, many of you will prefer the methods mentioned in other writings. That's fine. For all intents and purposes of my writing, I will keep it simple.

Most of us are already somewhat connected with our Higher Self. That whisper in your ear coming from your subconscious, the explanation to the reason why you are able to do things 'naturally' is your Higher Self in action. It is the collective of your past, present and future lives/selves. It is where your purpose lies. There are no complex techniques to connect with or expand the connection with your Higher Self. Simply listen. When you are sitting alone and all is quiet, clear your mind and listen. Communicate with yourself the same way or better than you would with an old friend. That's it. Now, the next question would probably be why you'd want to connect with your Higher Self. Well, that's a good question. Thanks for asking!

The human mind is capable of many glorious things. One of those things being manifestations. ( I will write a more detailed Hub on manifestations later.) Briefly, manifestations are your ability as a co-creator to create anything your heart desires. However, in order to be able to do this and more you must understand the plan your Higher Self has for you. People call this Soul Searching or find their purpose in life. Truly, it doesn't have to be a search if you listen to your Higher Self. The true you is within you, therefore the answers are within. Many of us refuse to follow the guidance of our the Higher Self and end up in a place of misery and with feelings of being unfulfilled and unhappy for much of our lives. You need to have a excellent connection with your Higher Self in order to find your purpose. Even more importantly, your connection with your Higher Self strengthens your connection with God, drawing you closer to home and to your place of origin. Connecting with your Higher Self assists you in the ascension process beyond the physical plan into the Spiritual.

Ultimately, your Higher Self is there to help you attain the life lessons necessary to move beyond the material existence we all are currently victim to. Know that there is something better than our current existence and through the connection with our Higher Self we can once again live the lives intended for us.
